What is seed cycling and how does it support hormonal balance?
Seed cycling is a natural practice that supports hormonal balance through different phases of your cycle using specific seeds. Each set of seeds provides essential nutrients that align with your body’s hormonal needs during that phase.
What are the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle?
Menstrual Phase (Day 1–5):
This is when your period starts. The body sheds the uterine lining through the vagina if no pregnancy has occurred.
Follicular Phase (Day 1–13):
Starts on the first day of your period and continues after it ends. The body prepares an egg to be released, and the uterus begins building a fresh lining.
Ovulation Phase (Around Day 14):
A mature egg is released from the ovary. This is the time when you're most likely to get pregnant if sperm is present.
Luteal Phase (Day 15–28): The body produces hormones to support a possible pregnancy. If the egg isn’t fertilized, hormone levels drop and the cycle restarts with your next period.
Which seeds should be taken during the Follicular and Luteal phases?
During the Follicular phase (Day 1–14), take flax seeds and pumpkin seeds to support estrogen production.
During the Luteal phase (Day 15–28), take sesame seeds and sunflower seeds to support progesterone production.
I don’t follow the 28-day calendar cycle. Can I still do seed cycling with the Moon Cycle?
Absolutely! Seed cycling works beautifully when synced with the lunar cycle especially for women whose periods don’t align with the calendar. Nature has its own rhythm, and so do you.
How do I seed cycle with the Moon Cycle?
You follow the New Moon to Full Moon as your Follicular Phase (Flax + Pumpkin seeds), and Full Moon to New Moon as your Luteal Phase (Sunflower + Sesame seeds). Even if your bleed doesn’t match, this rhythm helps create energetic alignment.
What if my period doesn’t sync with the moon at all?
That’s totally okay! You can still use the Moon as your guide. Think of it as tuning into nature's clock when your internal one feels off seed cycling isn’t about perfection; it’s about intention and rhythm.
Why does syncing with the Moon feel more intuitive than the typical 28-day cycle?
Because the Moon is ancient, and so are you. Our ancestors bled with the Moon, not Google Calendar. Syncing with the lunar phases brings you closer to your natural energetic flow.
Can I start seed cycling anytime, even if I have irregular cycles?
Yes, especially with the Moon method. Start on the next New Moon with flax and pumpkin seeds, then switch at the Full Moon. This gives your body a gentle rhythm to follow.
What if my bleed starts during the Full Moon instead of the New Moon, does that mean something’s wrong?
Not at all! Bleeding with the Full Moon is traditionally linked to the "Wise Woman" or healer archetype, it just means your body is walking a different path. The Moon doesn't judge, and neither should you. Seed cycling can still support you to just follow the moon’s phases, not your period's start date.
Does this really work or is it just another wellness trend?
It’s not a magic pill, but it’s definitely not fluff. Many women report better moods, fewer PMS symptoms, regular periods, and a deeper connection with their bodies.
I’ve seen women online doing rituals or journaling with seed cycling — is that necessary?
Not necessary, but beautiful if it calls to you. Seed cycling is a form of nourishment pairing it with intention, journaling, or moon rituals just amplifies the healing.
How long before I start seeing results?
Some women feel shifts in 1–2 cycles. Others take a few months. Remember, you’re working with nature, not a stopwatch.
